The federal government has confirmed that President Goodluck Jonathan will handover on May 29 contrary to the earlier handover date of May 28 allegedly proposed by the out-going President.
Minister of Information, Senator Patricia Akwashiki while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by Jonathan on Wednesday, made the disclosure.
President Goodluck Jonathan had earlier said he will formally handover power to the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) on May 28 as against the May 29 Democracy Day.
The decision sparked off a lot of comments from Nigerians especially lawyers who believe if President Jonathan goes ahead with the plan, a vacuum would be created in power till May 29 that General Muhammadu Buhari will formally assume office.
