A late night fire outbreak on Tuesday destroyed property worth millions of naira at the Kwara state Ministry of Energy in Ilorin.
The inferno which started around 8.00P.M and was put off at about 1.30A.M affected17 offices in the ministry.
The state commissioner for Energy, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, attributed the cause of the fire incident to power surge from one of the offices, saying that his office, Permanent Secretary and directors offices were affected.
Abdullahi disclosed that it took the combine efforts and prompt response of the men of Kwara State Fire service and the Federal Aviation Authority Fire Service to stop the inferno.
He said strategic offices such as Account and Finance department, Research and Planning, Energy distribution and generation were not affected.
Inspecting the damaged building, the Head of Service, Alhaji Dabarako Mohammed, disclosed that he had given the directors of building, mechanical and electrical 24hours to give the estimate of the damaged properties.
Dabarako noted that already the structure had been captured in the budget for rebuilding and assured that temporary office would be provided for the staff before Friday.
