The disclosure was made due to speculations that Jega will vacate the office on June 8.
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega will occupy the position till June 30, 2015, the commission has said.
The disclosure was made due to speculations that Jega will vacate the office on June 8.
However, INEC spokesperson, Nick Dazang, has said that Jega will remain Chairman till the end of month.
“The chairman’s tenure would end on June 30 and he is still in office,” Dazang said.
Jega, who received wide acclaim for the successful conduct of Nigeria’s recently held elections, has said that he will not be seeking a tenure elongation.

Jega is an example for a man of integrity. I hope he will be given another appointment to continue the good work.
