The gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Hon. Sabiu Ibrahim Musa, has alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State offered him a bribe to scuttle the just concluded election.
Musa told The Eagle Online in an interview that the PDP approached him with over N100 million to influence him on the need to reject and make a case for the cancellation of the governorship election in the state.
He said this would have been premised on the ground that the logo of his party was omitted on the ballot paper by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
He said: “I have rejected plans by the PDP trying to bribe me with N100 million to reject the April 11, 2015 governorship election result in the state.”
“They have been calling me for cancellation and reversal of results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, of which Barrister Simon Bako Lalong was declared winner, having won convincingly in the undisputed 11 local government areas in the April 11 election.”
He reiterated further that despite the pressure and overbearing attack and threat to his life by some group to challenge the outcome of the result in court, he would not approach any court for litigation.
Musa said: “I have never been intimidated like this in my entire life.
“Yesterday, some supporters of ADC trooped to my residence cursing and accusing me of collecting money from APC, the opposition, to the tune of N50,000,000, which is not true.
“I want to assure my supporters and those who are planing to plunge the state into fresh crisis to stop the act of causing problem.
“I pray that God should forgive those mischief makers. Nobody gave me money to drop my plan. The only thing I need is for peace to reign in Plateau.
“We are praying for peaceful coexistence and the progress of the Plateau State, not to be architect of people killing each other over nothing.
“The National Chairman of the African Democratic Party, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, after our telephone conversation, assured me of his unalloyed support.
“He called me to confirm the position of the exclusion of the party’s logo in the just-concluded governorship election by also emphasizing that the election has come and gone so nobody should make use of him to cause confusion to achieve his selfish ambition .
“Nwosu agrees with the decision taken by the state chapter.”
