Supporters of Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose have again invaded the State House of Assembly complex in a bid to stop impeachment plans against the governor.
The 19 All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers in the state have vowed to continue impeachment proceedings against Fayose despite a recent Supreme Court ruling affirming his victory in the June 2014 elections.
The governor’s loyalists however besieged the Assembly complex on Modnay, April 20, 2015, in order to stop the lawmakers from resuming.
Schools and offices in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, have remained closed due to fears that violence might erupt.
Fayose had initially called for peace and urged the APC lawmakers to sheathe their swords, a request which they refused.
The governor subsequently called on transport unions, market women and workers, via a broadcast on Sunday, April 19, to rise up and protect the mandate they gave him.
Fayose also stated that he was enjoying the mandate of God and anyone who ignored God’s voice was doing Satan’s bidding.
