Kenneth Nwadiogbu, a 300 level civil engineering student of University of Lagos is charting new frontiers, by bridging arts with showbiz via making portraits for top Nigerian musicians.
The 23-year-old from Ogidin, Anambara State, said that the nobel idea came after he had a chance meeting with the coordinating minister of the economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who told him that she was a lover of arts and he, being a fine-artist went ahead to draw a portrait titled ‘Tales of Eve’.
This idea took shape in the mind of the talented artise, who also plays some musical instruments and acts in drama, making him create a pencil life portrait of Chimamda Adichie and top musicians like TuFace, Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Davido, Burna Boy and lately, MI. Displaying his work, which took him 14 days to accomplish, Kenneth said that MI was so in love and in awe of the drawing that he produced a 5-minute video about it on his Instagram page.
“My work of art started in 2012 after I attended a program in Lagos where presidents of different countries came and spoke to the youths and I had a chance meeting with Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iwuela. I did a pencil life portrait of them and presented it. MI and Burna Boy were especially thrilled to receive theirs, among others.
“Burna Boy talked about his nose and the creative work which graphically portrayed him as a self-styled person and his cigar,” said Kenneth who is empowering and mentoring other fine artistes in pencil drawing.
